New Insurance Scheme for DTAA Members
The DTAA is pleased to advise that a new insurance scheme for members has been arranged. This scheme with Middleditch Insurance House provides a combined malpractice (professional indemnity), $10 million public and products liability policy, with students under supervision covered, locums, nil excess in the event of a claim and a long list of approved modalities that can also be covered. There is a lower rate for practitioners earning less than $10,000 per annum for their DMT practice, free run-off cover for those ceasing to practice and a 48 hour policy issuing guarantee.
This replaces the previous insurance scheme that offered only professional indemnity, and required DTAA to administer all payments. This new scheme is fully comprehensive with the now essential public liability combined with professional indemnity. There is no excess, whereas our previous excess was $1,000. Individual insurance is much better than group, as each person is insured for the full amount rather than the whole group insured for the same sum which could have lead to problems in the event of more than one claim being made.
Modalities that can be covered by this scheme include Yoga, Alexander technique and Pilates. Insurance is available to all financial members of the DTAA. Proof of DTAA membership is required to take up insurance.
Cost: $243.45 (for practitioners earning less than $10,00 per annum from their DMT practice) or $288 (for those earning $10,000 or more from their DMT practice).
Middleditch Insurance House has been established for more than 30 years. The company was previously underwritten by Lloyds of London, and now underwritten by Callidan, Australia. Callidan is a new Australian company run by a former manager of Vero, the underwriters we previously had in our dealings with AON.
